The Primacy Collegiate Academy is an iPad education institution. Our teachers seek to utilize this digital technology as the center of all of the students’ learning, productivity, and educational experiences. The iPad contains all textbook and classroom materials so much of the learning activities are connected to the use of the iPad. Utilizing this tool on a school-wide level has begun to change the culture of education and the accessibility of valuable digital resources. Transitioning into an iPad education program will allow students limitless growth opportunities and educational experiences.
“Education is deep in Apple’s DNA and iPad may be our most exciting education product yet. With 1.5 million iPads already in use in education institutions, including over 1,000 one-to-one deployments, iPad is rapidly being adopted by schools across the US and around the world,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “ Now with iBooks 2 for iPad, students have a more dynamic, engaging and truly interactive way to read and learn, using the device they already love.”
Here are some general explanations of the basic functions that need to be performed in order to set up your iPad:
Each application or “app” has a specific purpose or job. Just like Apple’s advertisement says, if you want to be able to perform some function (calculator, dictionary, internet browser, etc.) “There’s an app for that!” You can search for apps through an internet connection in your personal iTunes store, on the iTunes website, or even on you iPad. Once you find the app you are looking for you click it, and enter your purchasing information. Many useful apps can be found for free. Once the app is in your iTunes store, sync your iPad and make sure that app is selected to be transferred to the device.

Often app developers continue to add updates and changes to an app over time to add additional features and make their app more effective. Once an app has been purchased, usually you receive these updates for free. You can check for updates by going to the App Store on your iPad and clicking the “Updates” icon or through your iTunes by clicking on the Apps tab and looking at the bottom of the screen. If updates are available, there will be a notification, after which you can click the arrow next to the notice for the apps to update. Sync with your iPad and your updates will take effect.
